DISNEY MARATHON '11 - RECAP!
Mile 1-4 were through service roads to Epcot. We ran in Epcot and out through backroads of the park. It was dark but the lighted theme park was beautiful!
Mile 5-10: They were a breeze, the sun started to creep up and we ran next to the highway. It was dawn and the skies were pinkish orange. I took a mental snap shot, a gu chomp, and reminded myself to never forget this moment - how good I felt & how happy I was at that very moment. I could've snapped a picture, but that would only ruin 'the moment'.
Mile 11-16: Stopped to take lots of pictures with Disney characters (this prob added 10 mins to my time - totally worth it)! My legs & lungs were feeling awesome; & I was running faster than I felt! as per my garmin.
Mile 17-18: 3 fellow runners sang Sweet Caroline behind me. Why? Because of this!
Mile 19: They played SWEET CAROLINE! This was the designated/official song for mile 19! Runners tapped me to tell me they were playing my song and Stephen asked why they weren't playing his song. I had no idea what his song was... I can only guess it was "Hey Stephen" by Taylor Swift...but I may be on the wrong track.
Mile 20-22: Feeling ok, but not as incredible as Mile 1-19.
Mile 23-26: I felt totally nauseous and played mind games. Ex. Stare in a daze at farthest tree and lie to myself: "once you hit that tree, you can rest"...sike! Then you pick your next tree or the next tree lamp and BAM, one mile down. you get me??
Mile 26: Spot my own personal spectators & got super excited to finish, get my medal and STOP RUNNING!.
Currently:
1. Both my legs are sore as ever
2. I am limping but not as bad as after my first marathon
3. I have 4 black toe nails (battle scars of a runner) THEY HURT!
4. I can't wait to start up my circuit training sessions.
5. Can't believe Disney '11 is over! Seemed like just yesterday I signed up for it.
