Here we go again.
I have (mainly) patellar tendonitis. great. just effin' great.
My knee is noticeably more swollen than the other. I saw an orthopedist and had hip/knee/ankle x-rays. My bones are beautiful; my tendons, on the other hand, not so much. I was diagnosed and referred to Physical Therapy.
I think it finally clicked tonight as I was reading RW forums on Patellar tendonitis that I really need to buckle down and get this healed rather than rigidly follow my (already pared down) Marathon training plan.
Some lady on RW said it best, "I remember my knee pain (she still has it years later!!) more so than I remember that marathon. Get it healed asap!" Til this day, she is still working on building up her mileage. Mind you its been 2 years. I do not want to be her! My mickey mouse medal can wait. There will be more marathons. I will run faster one day after I get this tendon COMPLETELY healed! i swear.
It's been really hard not being able to run.
But I'd rather not run for a 2weeks - 1 mo (or more...well, 3 mos tops) than not be able to run FOREVER! eek!
here's to my legs! Today is National Love Your Body Day btw. So body, thanks for bringing me to the finish line in my last two Marathon & half mary. i heart you. and so i will let you heal before pushing on.
