Diets Experiment

On the train, I listen to my Nutrition Diva podcasts with Monica Reinagel. I like her sensible nutrition ways, what can I say.
Anyway, so there was a 5-week special on "Which Diet is Best?"
Obviously the answer is different for everyone with regards to personality, lifestyle, preferences, biochemistry, etc. The Nutrition Diva held a 4-week experiment where her & her listeners participate in experimenting with a different diet each week & document how they feel & the changes they notice with regards to mood, energy, behavior, bodily changes - anything really. What worked, what didn't work.
In short, I decided to hop on this bandwagon. Since each "diet" is only one week long, I'm sure it won't be terribly difficult to maintain.
NOTE*: The diets chosen are not only metabolically focused (what you can/cannot eat) but will also include behavioral psychology/environmental cues.

So, here are the different "diet" approaches to be experimented:
  • 1. Low Carbohydrate Diet
-cut out refined* CHO (carbohydrates)
  • 2. Environmental Cue Diet
-no food restrictions; just behavioral adjustments ie. smaller kitchenware - will elab. next week
  • 3. Mediterranean Diet
-in our Medical Nutrition Therapy class, this diet is usually prescribed for both heart patients & diabetics

This week: Low Carbohydrate Diet

I'm really excited to be my own guinea pig; and kind of wish there was some way to incorporate this in one of my Nutrition classes...nutrition Research Seminar, perhaps?...or perhaps not, we'll see how this goes.
