So, quite the eventful day today.
I was heading to work on the E train and all of a sudden at Queensboro Plaza, I felt really really nauseous and knew then and there that I was about to faint at any moment. So I got off the next stop at 23rd & Ely (I get off at Lex. for work) and sat on the bench things. I felt myself fading fast so I turned to the man sitting next to me and told him I was going to faint and to call someone. So he did, and then as ppl were coming off and going on the E train they kept staring and all I had the strnghth to do was sit there, mouth open and sort splayed out legs. I was sweating like crazy and getting really clammy.
A nurse passed by on her way to work im guessing and asked if i needed medical assistance and I managed a nod; so she too went to get help. Then another woman came to me and called 911- she too went upstairs; then there was a really nice Spanish lady who asked if I was ok; she then realized i was sweating but felt cold, so took off my sweater and help my hand. She's like 'don't worry, Ill stay with you til someone comes". I couldnt say thank you bc I didnt have the strength and my mouth was super dry so I just squeezed her hand & i think she understood. Then she screamed at passengers to get me water. And another lady proceeded to wipe cold water on my face, which felt sooooo cold and I started getting chills and began to shiver.
After what seemed like forever, I saw a police officer come and ask me questions, by then I was slowly starting to come back to consciousness. After 2 mins, the EMT came and I see a HUGE CROWD of passengers surrounding and staring at me. I felt so naked. The police officer proceeded to tell the EMT that my eyes were rolled back when he arrived. I'm not sure how long I was actually out for but it seemed longer than my usual episodes (I've had 4 of these before, this is my 5th). Then they put me on a stretcher and carried me up the steps and into the ambulance where I called my dad and told him the sitch. The police talked to him and said they were sending me to Astoria Hospital, then changed to Elmhurst Hospital where I went to their Emergency Room.
After inserting IV's and pricking my finger for blood sugar, getting what seems to be a gallon of blood, I proceeded to go to the waiting room for my CAT scan. There my bed was pushed up agnst the wall next to this criminal that had his hands and feet chained with crazy dreads. He starts screaming to the two police officers that were there to supervise him and said that the chains on his ankles were ridiculous. I was soooo scared he was going to go bonkers and rip my IV's out and the thought of that gave me the chills. So I read my book instead.
I was at the hospital from...9am to 7pm. It's the worst thing ever, I hate the hospital when I am there as a patient. It's like prison, no, it is prison. Oh and the nurse wanted me to give her a urine sample, and told me I must pee in the bedpan, bc that was the only way, since im not allowed to walk in the hospital in case i faint agn. I was like hells to the no, I am not an invalid and I am perfectly able to walk to the goddamn bathroom fine. So she threatened me and said that i would have to wait longer for the CAT scan and shut my curtain so i could pee in this bed. I refused and when she came back a few mins later, I told her that i cannot physically pee in this thing, i have iv's stuck to me and I was so grossed out that i didnt want to move my arm in case the needle poked me in diff.directions and came out the otehr side of my veins! So shes like fine, go to the bathroom. im like shitt! we could have saved so much time if you just let me use the freakin bathroomthe first time I told you I am not going in the flippin' bedpan, shit! Anyway, so blahblahblah then i was discharged and now im home with a slight headache but fine. I now need to follow up with a Neurologist, Cardiologist, and my Primary Care doctor bc the ER doc says its not normal for a young person to have these random fainting spells & he's right i guess. It could've been a much more dangerous experience.
Ps. sorry this was such along post, i wanted you guys to feel as if you were there lol; also I write in a way that I can look back at all my experiences and reflect upon them through my blogposts.

omg. Caroline, reading this had me freaking out for a moment! I'm glad you're safe and fine now!!! I really hope they find out why you've been having been these fainting spells. I'm glad someone stayed with you, and that there ARE people out there who actually care about another human being. It restores my faith in humanity :)
PS
I didnt know you lived right on Austin St. You might have told me before? I dont remember. I live like two subway stops from you xD Briarwood-Van Wyke. How about next time I'm around Forest HIlls, I give you a call? We can grab coffee or w/e and have a chitchat :)
Poor baby!
It's common knowledge that eating pistachio causes random fainting spells. Bc it's so grossie, True Story.
