the BIG DAY.

MAY 3, 2009 - NJ Marathon @ Long Branch.

I am so nervous & excited at the very same time. In the midst of some training sessions, I think that I was drunk & high for signing up to run 26.2 miles. But I know I can do it. Running long distances or just running at all is 40% PHYSICAL & 60% MENTAL. I recall writing posts where I was ecstatic to have run 6 or 7 miles and now I am already up to 16. I am so proud of myself and so thankful for all the reasons I have to run. There are many people who have motivated me & encouraged me both outright and inadvertently.

My motivation to run comes from:
1. wanting to be better and always feeling progressive.
2. There are ups & downs in life (yes, at the tender age of 20, I have had ups & downs - good times and not as good times is more like it) & by hopefully running, walking or crawling across the finish line, there is an 'high up' in life that I can personally control.
3. Before I'm 21, I can have "ran a marathon" under my belt of accomplishments, just in case I don't get into the Nutrition Program - at least I'll have accomplished...running my butt off.
4. when I run, my thoughts are not judged; i can think of whatever i want for however long i want, however possible or impossible those thoughts may be.

If I ever fall off the running wagon, I hope to look to these posts to remind me that this is possible and that I am that amazing. With all that humbleness I have mustered, I leave you with a quote I hope to continually abide by from the UltraMarathon Man - Dean Karnazes.

"Run if you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must. Just never give up."

This can apply to all sorts of obstacles in life, Cheeseballs.
