I finally found a satisfactory answer to racism, stereotypes, and prejudices. If you have kept up with my blog, then you know that I've recently submerged myself into Asian American Studies - particularly those in the U.S. Here's a synopsis of why racism etc., still occurs today. It is the dominant culture [and please be mindful I do not mean 'white people'], the hegemonic forces that uses the "divide and conquer" or "divide and rule" theory to successfully pit minorities against one another. These hegemonic forces include those with power including political power, whether it is the government or corporations [but not limited to] .
Example: 'model minority myth'
This model minority myth will be familiar to almost everyone - that Asian Americans are hard, working, diligent, studious, self sufficient minorities that achieve success measured by income, education, low crime rate, & family stability etc.
The point that is difficult to see though, is that by creating this model minority MYTH, it creates a political tool used to incite jealousy & fighting among ethnic minorities. - "an example of leveraging majority power dynamics to provoke ill sentiments between minority groups" (wiki).
This is just a very, very, extremely brief synopsis. I don't think it does my main point justice, but I promise to continue in later posts but in short excerpts so my mind can completely illustrate my idea in an orderly and clear fashion.
P.S. I was listening on the radio today and this woman, Grace, 32 had called in to ask 'How much sex is too much?' She admitted to 5xs a night bc her boyfriend wakes her up in the middle of the night, before bed and also in the morning before work. She had also stated that her bf recently quit alcohol - and thats when it all began.. Looks like he's weening off alcohol with his weeny! oh the play on words.. I am quite the clown!
P.p.s. this pic is for Sophia bc we had Leaders together & she knows how 'flexible' I was in high school. Aren't you proud?!

you're so flexible!
I like this clarification. I was reading an article today that talked about how people gain knowledge and your post reminded me of it. It's too much to write about here, but it's interesting how people rely so much on others' opinions and views rather than finding their own.
we're even racist within our own race... i had this conversation with my father in broken english about dating guys of different asian ethnicities and it all comes down to... what's wrong with dating guys within your ethnicity? i was just like... what's wrong with dating someone outside my race or ethnicity? GRRR.
